Step 1: Connect Your TikTok Account

First, make sure TikTok is connected to Pipeline Funnels.

Navigate here:

  1. Click Settings in your left-hand menu

  2. Click Integrations

  3. Find the TikTok card

  4. Click Connect and follow the prompts to authorize your TikTok account

  5. Allow Pipeline Funnels to access your account (this is secure and required for automation)

That's it! Your TikTok is now connected and ready for automation.

Step 2: Create Your Comment Automation Workflow

Unlike Facebook and Instagram, TikTok doesn't have a pre-built Recipe yet, so we'll build it from scratch. Don't worry—it's actually simpler!

Navigate here:

  1. Click Automation in your left-hand menu

  2. Click + Create Workflow

  3. Choose "Start from Scratch"

  4. Give it a clear name like:

    • "TikTok - Slenderiiz DROPS Video"

    • "TikTok - Morning Routine Product Link"

    • "TikTok - Discount Code Campaign"

  5. Click Create Workflow

Step 3: Set Up Your Comment Trigger

This tells Pipeline Funnels which TikTok video to watch and which word triggers the automation.

Add your trigger:

  1. Click Add Trigger at the top of your workflow

  2. Select "TikTok - Comment(s) on a Post" (you'll find it in the TikTok category)

  3. A sidebar opens with options—here's what to set:

Select Account (Optional):

  • If you have multiple TikTok accounts connected, choose which one

  • If you leave this blank, the automation works across ALL connected accounts

  • Most people just have one account, so you can skip this

Select Post Type:

  • Published Post: Choose this to pick from videos already on your TikTok

  • Custom Post: Choose this to paste a specific TikTok video URL (great for planning ahead!)

Choose Your Video:

  • If you selected "Published Post," your recent TikTok videos will appear—click the one you want

  • If you selected "Custom Post," paste the TikTok video URL

  • Leave this blank if you want the automation to work on ALL your TikTok videos (not just one specific video)

Set Your Keyword Trigger:

This is the word or phrase people comment to trigger your automation!

You have two options:

  • Exact Match: Only triggers if they comment the EXACT word(s)

    • You set: "DROPS"

    • They comment: "DROPS" → ✅ Triggers

    • They comment: "drops" or "I want drops" → ❌ Doesn't trigger

  • Contains Phrase: Triggers if their comment includes your phrase anywhere

    • You set: "DROPS"

    • They comment: "DROPS" → ✅ Triggers

    • They comment: "Give me DROPS please!" → ✅ Triggers

    • They comment: "drops" (lowercase) → ❌ Doesn't trigger

💡 Pro tip: TikTok users type fast on mobile. Use simple, obvious words: DROPS, CODE, LINK, INFO, YES. All caps makes it crystal clear in your video caption!

Step 4: Add a Public Comment Reply

This is the public message everyone sees when someone comments. On TikTok, keep it SHORT and fun!

Add this action:

  1. Click + Add Action below your trigger

  2. Select "Reply in Comments" (in the Communication category)

  3. Add your public reply variations

TikTok-Friendly Examples:

  • First name personalization tokens

What this means for you: Keep your TikTok messages simple and text-based for now. The good news? Simple often converts better on TikTok anyway!

Contact Creation and Data

What gets saved automatically:

  • First name (from their TikTok profile)

  • Last name (from their TikTok profile)

  • TikTok username

  • TikTok user ID

  • The comment they made

  • Which video they commented on

  • Timestamp of when they engaged

What does NOT get saved automatically:

  • Email address (you need to ask for it)

  • Phone number (you need to ask for it)

Pro tip: If you want to collect emails, include a Google Form or Typeform link in your DM asking them to fill it out for a bonus or deeper info.

Messaging Windows

Similar to Instagram/Facebook:

  • After someone comments, you have several days to send the initial DM

  • Once a conversation starts, you have 24 hours to send follow-ups before needing their response

  • This is TikTok's rule, not Pipeline Funnels'

Strategy: Get them to reply in that first message! Ask a question or invite them to reply with questions to keep the conversation window open.

Account Type Requirements

Good news: Unlike Facebook/Instagram, TikTok automation works with regular personal accounts! You don't NEED a Business account (though having one gives you better analytics).

Recommendation: Convert to a Business account anyway for the analytics—you'll want to track which videos drive the most engagement.

Comment Limits and Spam Prevention

TikTok watches for spam behavior. If people mark your DMs as unwanted or spam, TikTok may limit your account.

Prevention:

  • Only send valuable, requested information

Will my account get flagged as spam?

Not if you follow best practices! Only respond to people who commented (they asked for it), provide real value in your DMs, and don't send aggressive sales messages. Your workflow settings control this. You can choose "run once per contact" (they only get the DM the first time) or "run every time" (they get it each time they comment). Most people use "once per contact" to avoid annoying people.

Does this work with Duets and Stitches?

Yes! Any video format works—regular videos, Duets, Stitches, trending sounds, whatever. If people can comment on it, automation can respond to it.

Can I edit my message after the automation is running?

Yes! Edit your workflow anytime. Changes apply to NEW conversations starting after your edit. People already in the middle of conversations continue with the old version until their conversation completes.

How do I know who triggered my automation?

Go to Contacts in Pipeline Funnels! You'll see everyone who came through your automation, complete with their TikTok username, what they commented, and when. You can tag them, add them to sequences, or follow up manually.
